Podcast: “Deflate” Gate and NHL Analysis at the All Star Break

In this week’s BLS Radio Show, we are back in the studio! Back on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, we welcomed back our loyal callers and they provided great insight all night! We started the show with a quick recap of BLS’s last month on the road at different college basketball arenas as well as calling high school basketball games. We then analyzed the suspension of Hope Solo from US Soccer for 30 days, the dropping of the claim against the use of artificial turf in the World Cup by Abby Wambach and the women associated with the movement, and a quick discussion on the NBA (Start-22:05). Next, we discussed “Deflate” Gate with the New England Patriots, including the background behind the rule, whether this was a calculated decision and one that is or isn’t prevalent across the league, and what possible punishments and/or remedies should be enacted (22:05-40:23). We then moved on to discuss the Flyers vs. Pens hockey game, a physical game highlighted by a dirty hit from Zac Rinaldo and tons of fights and penalty minutes. We took some great calls on how Flyer fans feel about Zac Rinaldo, how Pens fans should feel about the team’s struggles in the rivalry, and more (40:23-1:13:20).  We then welcomed “Mark Sanchez’s Number 1 Fan,” Mitch from South Bend, who schooled us all on why Mark Sanchez deserves a starting NFL QB job, talked some Notre Dame hoops, as well as our favorite “30 for 30″ documentaries and why the brand has been so successful (1:13:20-1:34:20).  After the break, we continued our hockey discussion and finished the show with some first-half of the season thoughts and talking points (1:35:50-Finish).
